I have Hive 2 and have been slowly looking for another "flavor". ![]() So far I'm a little short on modern soft synths vs. Excluding the modulation I've not yet tried yet, I like the UI (though the side-scrolling modulation isn't ideal it's at least the right prioritization in terms of design if something has to give). Timeless3 didn't work for me (thanks to the person that just purchased it from me a short time ago!!), but, so far, I'm feeling FF have learned a bit with their new UI paradigm and applied what they've learned, taking the best from each of the updated plugins to date. So far I'm gelling with the basics of it, need to try out the modulation. I will say that it sounds really excellent and modern (and can suck down CPU like it, too!). If you own FF Twin 2 and you're just looking for a simple VA synth then one of the Cherry Audio offerings would probably be a better choice in the price range of the FF upgrade. Save yourself $30 and get a much more capable synth. A couple of days ago I picked up Tone 2's Icarus synth on sale for $99 and it blows away FF Twin 3 in every manner and aspect. When I say simple, for example FF Twin 3 touts "4 Oscs with 4 Filters" while my favorite synth has 24 Oscs with 8 filters or 16 when using the dual filters and FM and Wavetable and Sample import.įor those who don't already own FF Twin 2 the price appears to be $129. ![]() So either make the synth more complex or make the interface simpler. To me this is a common sounding simple VA synth with a futuristic overly complex video game interface.
